Master page publishing is a new feature of Contensis 8.3 that enables us to reduce publishing queues.
With master pages in 8.3, we went back to the drawing board to rethink our publishing model. We wanted to make these changes as seamless as possible, but at the same time allow our existing clients to upgrade to the new publishing model at their own pace.
So, we came up with a whole new way of publishing. Now, instead of publishing flat pages, we publish a file for each template sub-template and a file for each page. When these files are requested by the browser they are dynamically merged. So now when you make a change to a template or sub-template the only thing that needs to be published is that template – not the pages that depend on it.
