Contensis R7.2 it's all about Developers

R7.2 Razor Engine

Features for Developers

Developer Tools

We’ve added a great set of tools in R7.2 specifically for working with Visual Studio. One of our goals has been to ensure that the development workflow applies to Visual Studio Express as well as the full edition. This will be great news for those who work with the Express Edition.

New WebAPI

This is the part of R7.2 that developers will love the most. As an addition to the Contensis core API, we’re launching a lighter, more targeted WebAPI which is focused on the 95% of tasks you’ll want to achieve with Contensis. The new API is fully documented, read-only and fantastically intuitive to use. We’ve lowered the bar for those wanting to get stuck in and develop exciting new experiences for their web audience.

REST API Search

The REST part of the new API allows you to work with content dynamically without the need to reload the web page. This opens the door to some pretty stunning search experiences; instantly update search results as you type, create an infinite scroll or use dynamic filtering with faceted search.

Razor Engine

By employing the Microsoft Razor engine we’ve provided a great way for web developers to use the new API. If you’re more comfortable with HTML/CSS than more back-end development languages like C#, then you’ll find the Razor views to be an excellent tool.

New Additions

Any Content Type

Now you can leverage all of the excellent workflow, versioning and permissions features in Contensis and apply them to any file type you can imagine.

Favourites Control

This new control enables users to save documents, people and web pages as their favourites. Users can then refer to their list of favourites located on a side bar, homepage or wherever you choose to locate it.

Bi-Directional AD Synchronisation

Allow users to update their Active Directory record via your Intranet. If someone updates their telephone number using the Who’s Who module you can now set it to push this update back into AD.

This can represent quite an efficiency saving. By pushing the responsibility onto the individual to keep their records up-to-date you remove a significant administrative overhead.

Unique Registration Codes

Send emails to people inviting them to register with your website and use a unique registration code ensuring that only those you invited actually sign up.

New Licensed Modules

Classifieds

Replace that worn out corkboard full of tattered, aging notices with a shiny new feature on your Intranet. The Classifieds module allows users to post items for sale or put ‘wanted’ notices up, complete with expiry dates to ensure they don’t become irrelevant.

More than a simple listing of for-sale items, the Classifieds module gives end-users full control to add, edit and remove a listing. When someone is interested in an item they can create a dialogue with the person that advertised before taking it further.

Introducing this type of community-led feature is a brilliant way to get staff to engage with your Intranet and can build relationships internally.

Case Management & FOI

The case management module handles both Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and complaints/compliments submitted via a website or Intranet.

The module handles the full workflow from user submission through to resolution. The FOI components have been developed in conjunction with advisors from UK Police Authorities - this collaboration has allowed us to develop a solution which is fully compliant with the UK Freedom of Information Act 2000.

This great module reduces the complexity of processing requests and provides an excellent platform for publishing the results of submissions and responses.
