Local Government User Group 2011

We'd like to thank Staffordshire for hosting a brilliant day (in a spectacular venue!) and for helping make the day a great one.

Local Government User Group 2011 at Stafford
One of the afternoon workshops

We spent the first session hearing an excellent review of the Staffordshire County Council's project implementing Contensis. Ruth Woodbridge presented the business rationale behind the re-development of the website and for adopting Contensis to replace their outgoing CMS. Andy Holt then rounded off the session with some of the technical aspects of the project while singing the praises (not quite literally although we should ask him...) of Mark Kelly from our team here at Genetics for making their migration such a success!

Richard Chivers (Genetics) then presented the developments coming out in R7.1 as well as outlining the long term roadmap for Contensis. Darcy Smith (Genetics) then lead a discussion on the pros and cons of adopting LGNL/LGSL navigation - a particularly relevant topic for the Local Government audience. After a delicious repast, throughout which the LGNL discussion rumbled on, we then cracked on with the workshops.

We've had great feedback from the workshops particularly as it gave us all a chance to get into some detail about how each Council is facing the challenges presented by mobile, what they would like to see coming in future releases of Contensis and how Contensis works in their content workflow.

A less tangible but equally useful outcome was the unrivalled opportunity for networking amongst attendees, which we hope to encourage further by putting the key discussion topics raised at the event onto the Forum. So if you’ve not been able to attend this year, we’d encourage you to participate online.
