Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust sought a company who would work with the Trust to implement a new content management system. They required a new CMS that would help them make and manage changes behind the scenes and revise the site’s structure for developing a new public website. The Contensis CMS was awarded the contract on the 5th February 2009 after a lengthy selection process.
Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust (SUHT) is the 8th biggest acute trust in England and operates at three sites across the city, employing around 8,000 people.
SUHT provides local hospital services to some 500,000 people living in Southampton and south Hampshire and specialist services such as neurosciences, cardiac services and children’s intensive care to more than 3 million people in central southern England and the Channel Islands.
The Trust is also a major centre for teaching and research in association with the University of Southampton and partners including the Medical Research Council and The Wellcome Trust.
SUHT are currently bidding to become a Foundation Trust and the CMS was required to help them consolidate their various websites with a single graphic design and joined-up architecture. Contensis offered not only an ECMS but also the ability to add supporting Web 2 technology whilst allowing visitors to access information more easily and fulfilling the needs to meet the required accessibility standards.
Following the contract award back in February the new system has been implemented, key users trained and the ‘Go-Live’ deadline of April 1st was achieved.
