Weather Feed - Provides personalised weather to your staff or end users

The weather feed control simply displays the weather for a given location over the next few days. Contensis has partnered with a third party to provide the weather feed itself, which means this is one of the very few Contensis features that requires an annual subscription.

The control allows the setting of a postcode to specify where the weather is displayed for.

Weather location can be personalised for each user logging in.

If you choose to personalise the location display, this must be done using standard custom code.

Typically, you would simply display the weather based on the postcode against a user profile, for example.

In the case of BAM Nuttall, they decided to extend this further and the weather is displayed on the intranet postcode based on data that is held in an in-house database.

The system understands which project you are working on, or location you are at and customises the weather accordingly.

The actual control has a number of configurable parameters.

  • Location - can be set dynamically or specifically.
  • Duration 1-7 days
  • Enable Detail - will allow the user to see more detail
  • Theme - as with most Contensis controls, it will look good without any styling required. The example we have shown is using the standard simple theme with no added styling.
