Navigation Management - Every user can manage the navigation
Managing the navigation in Contensis is just a standard part of the content lifecycle. The Contensis tree menu provides a default hierarchical navigation, that is then used to create the URLs and sections of a site.
In essence, wherever you create an item, the item will ultimately appear on the live site. Contensis comes with a whole suite of navigational controls that are all generated automatically based on the navigation controls provided to any user with privilege.
Setting Folder Home Pages
Whenever a new section is created it is normal to create a folder home page. This home page effectively becomes the default page for that section.
Creating a folder home page can be done by simply right-clicking on any Contensis page and choosing "Make Folder Home Page"
Configuring Menu Visibility and Name
From an editor's perspective, all you need to do is use the content management system and the menus will be created automatically.
This screenshot shows the menu options available to any editor
Where an item appears in the menu is directly related to where the item is created in the Contensis Navigator.
As you can see from the screenshot, the editor has the ability to:
-
Set the menu name
-
Choose whether an item is included in the menu or not
-
Choose whether an item is included in the search or not
-
Choose whether an item is included in the A-Z or not
-
Choose whether an item is included in the SiteMap or not
Ordering Menu Elements
In Contensis any user with privilege can order how navigational elements appear in menus and sitemaps. Changes made to ordering will appear almost instantaneously on the test or live website.
