Reporting - Giving you the edge
Get a flexible reporting solution that suits your needs.
With the standard reports and the option for creating either simple or complex custom reports, there should not be any report that is unachievable - as long as the data exists of course!
Reporting is an important feature for any CMS. If you are reading this because you are thinking about website statistics reporting then please see our information on Analytics Support , as this is covered and dealt with as an entirely separate topic.

Standard Reports
Contensis comes configured with a whole set of reports that can instantly be used. These reports are generally focused on Content Usage , Workflows and User information.
As you can see from the screenshot, reports can be accessed in a single click, wherever you are within Contensis.
As we have an extensive Audit Trail , the reports are generally based upon the data held within Audit.
The standard "content edited by me this week" Report.
When you click on one of these reports you are taken to a screen that lists all of the content that is relevant.
Against each piece of content there are a number of options available, which makes it a single click to either Edit, Check-In or Preview, as well as many other actions.
As always in Contensis, the options are permission-sensitive, so if you do not have the right to Edit the piece of content in question, you will not be able to do so.

Custom Reports
Creating custom reports is very straightforward in Contensis, and certainly something that is covered as a standard part of our Developer Training sessions. There are however a few different options for this.
Initially, at the simplest level, you can add a bespoke report procedure into the system and use the user interface that we provide for our standard reports.
If you want, you can use any reporting package of your choice to create reports and then simply link to them using our Interface Customisation .
You may, for example, have spent money on tools such as Crystal Reports and have experience of using them. If this is the case, then go ahead and use these packages to create the reports you desire. With this option you will have no limits at all on the complexity and personalisation of the reports. There is, of course, a method of passing the User Details to the report so that you can target reports to certain users or groups.
We provide a standard set of database schemas that can be analysed for those wanting to create reports or, if your tool supports it, you can generate reports using the Contensis API .
