Publishing Schedules - Create today and publish when you choose

Contensis supports scheduled expiration, review and publishing of content. This means that you can have full control over the lifecycle of the content you create.

In practise, this functionality allows you to create a new article on Friday, and have it publish at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon, without anyone needing to be in the office. If you like, it could then expire and disappear from the site 30 seconds later!

Content publishes when you choose.

This functionality is achieved through the use of publishing schedules. You can assign global schedules to handle automatic Content review, for example, or even schedules at individual content level.

Each schedule stores information about when the content is to be published (activation of content), when a piece of content is to be reviewed and when a piece of content is due to expire (for scheduled expiration).

Once an agreed period is set, the system would use this and remove any content that falls outside this period.

All archived content can be searched and restored.

Setting a publishing schedule

Setting a publishing schedule is a piece of cake - just click on the Properties tab of any content and the options are immediately available.

If you do not set a specific schedule against content then it will use the global default publishing schedule, which can be configured as you decide. You may, for example, want all content to be reviewed automatically 12 months after publishing.

Schedules can be date-based or even based upon other factors. For example, with a review of expiry you could set the expiry to be 365 days after publishing and the review to be 30 days before expiry. This is just a simple example.

What Happens when content is due for review or due to expire?

When content is due for review or due to expire, firstly the system will send the editors a notification about this so they can take any action necessary. One action may simply be to re-authorise the content with a review date of another 12 months, for example.

In the Dashboard you will see a To-Do pop-up showing you that there are items due for review.

There are also a number of reports that show you items due to expire and due for review. See reporting for more information .
